How to remove a Balance Control Box
How to Remove a Balance Control Box.
If you wish to remove the box, unplug the piano. Take a flat blade screwdriver and pry the box off of the piano. Take the 1/8" stereo mini wire that's plugged into airport, and plug its other end into the Line input on the iQ control box that's under the piano. Take the speaker's wire, and plug it into the RCA jack on the iQ box. You will have one extra 1/8" stereo mini cable when done. Use it for something else! Make sure that the piano is off before you do this. Don't ever just pull the 1/8" mini cable out of AirPort Express when the piano is on. This will introduce noise into the piano's speaker. Sometimes it takes a while for the noise to go away. Speaking of noise, let me say something. When the piano is first turned on, and AirPort Express (this is the wireless receiver under the piano that works with the iPod) is booting up, the speaker isn't connected. Let's say it's floating electrically. Because it's not grounded there is sometimes a little bit of noise or static that can be heard in the speaker. This noise usually goes away once the ipod is connected to the piano wirelessly.
If you don't want to mess with a balance box that's already installed, simply turn the volume up all the way on the front of the box. The boxes had limit controls on them that turn down the volume of an incoming signal. Because of this, you'll have to turn up the "Attenuate Incoming Signal" to compensate for the amount of power that the box consumes so to speak.
If you don't want to remove the box, simply turn up both knobs all the way on the front of the box.
You might have to turn up the "Attenuate Incoming Signal" for master in and out of Main. This will compensate for the fact that most of the balance boxes had built in limit control. So, to overcome this, you need to crank up the incoming signal.
