There is some really cool stuff that you get when you use an a/d converter in conjunction with a soundbar. First of all, when you plug in the piano, the soundbar will automatically turn on and switch to the right input. In this case the input is be "Optical." The other advantage is that the optical connection is nice and solid.

Why the balance control box under the piano? Three reasons:
1. The piano signal is stronger than the audio signal coming from the AirPort Express. The box allows you to turn it down which in turns gives the SoundBar more juice to work with. Without it, you'll have troubles getting the SoundBar to be loud enough.
2. Enhances the operation of PD Remote App. Reason why... The iQ box under the piano no longer tries to balance the piano and audio signals because this box separates the two signals and only sends piano to the iq. It then sends audio separately to the a/d converter.
3. Allows you to balance piano and audio before the piano even "sees" the signals.

Keep this turned up all the way.
Turn this one down 25 percent or so. By doing so, piano gets turned down, SoundBar gets turned up.
Incredibly nice bracket for this very soundbar made by yours truly. Makes installation cake. Also moves soundbar closer to bottom of piano. Soooooooooooooooooo the way to go.
